During the summer of 2024, Savener carried out a strategic intervention to improve the pluvial drainage network of the H2 building at the Airbus Defence & Space factory, located in San Pablo Sur, Seville. This action, designed and executed with the aim of eliminating the recurring filtrations that affected the interior of the building during periods of heavy rainfall, has demonstrated exceptional performance after the winter and spring of 2025, periods in which particularly heavy rainfall was recorded.
The intervention consisted of the construction of three new reinforced concrete manholes – two inside the building and one outside – connected by four new sewer pipes. The exterior chamber has been strategically located to intercept and redirect the flow coming from the main rainwater pipe on the south façade of the building, thus avoiding any return or overflow towards the interior of the building.
In addition to the construction of these new infrastructures, an existing manhole and part of the concrete slab have been demolished, thus facilitating a more efficient redistribution of the rainwater system. The new structures have been calculated and dimensioned with advanced structural modelling tools, guaranteeing their resistance to both static and dynamic loads, including earth thrust and seismic situations.
Thanks to this action, the drainage network has responded impeccably during the recent episodes of heavy rainfall, completely eliminating the risk of water entering the building, a problem that had been affecting the centre’s operations in previous years.
