Savener has carried out the engineering design, construction supervision, and project management services for the comprehensive refurbishment of the roof of the AIRBUS Training Centre, located within the San Pablo Sur manufacturing facility in Seville. This project forms part of AIRBUS’s infrastructure maintenance and modernization strategy, aimed at ensuring the functionality, safety, and efficiency of its buildings while extending their service life through high-value technical solutions.
The primary objective of the project was to permanently resolve the waterproofing and leakage issues affecting the building envelope, while simultaneously improving its energy performance and resistance to environmental conditions. To achieve this, Savener developed an integrated solution combining the refurbishment of waterproofing systems, enhancement of thermal insulation, and optimization of key roofing elements, ensuring a high level of durability and reliability for the facility.
The scope of work included the replacement and upgrading of existing systems, refurbishment of skylights and rooflights, improvement of junctions and critical points, and the implementation of new sealing and protection solutions. The design was developed under value engineering principles, prioritizing construction efficiency, reducing future maintenance requirements, and optimizing the overall performance of the building.
One of the main challenges of the project was the need to execute the works without disrupting the normal operation of the Training Centre, a facility dedicated to training activities and office use that had to remain fully operational throughout the intervention. To address this requirement, a detailed work schedule was implemented, coordinating each construction phase with the client’s operational needs and minimizing any potential interference with the centre’s day-to-day activities.
Project management also required close coordination among all stakeholders involved, as well as planning adapted to the specific weather conditions expected during the execution period. Continuous site supervision, quality control of materials, and verification of construction processes ensured compliance with AIRBUS’s technical standards and guaranteed the proper execution of all planned activities.
The project was delivered under an EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) model, enabling efficient integration between the engineering and construction phases. This approach optimized decision-making, improved coordination among the project teams, and ensured compliance with the schedule, quality, and cost objectives established by the client. Collaboration among all stakeholders proved essential for achieving a safe and efficient execution within a highly demanding industrial environment.
This project represents another milestone within the range of interventions carried out by Savener at the AIRBUS Seville facility, where roof refurbishment, energy efficiency improvements, and infrastructure modernization have been strategic areas of activity in recent years. The experience gained through projects of this nature enables SAVENER to provide comprehensive solutions capable of combining the execution of complex works with the uninterrupted operation of critical facilities.
The comprehensive refurbishment of the Training Centre roof delivers significant improvements in terms of functionality, energy efficiency, protection against external agents, and building preservation, contributing to the sustainability and reliability of a key infrastructure asset within the AIRBUS industrial complex in Seville.
