Steady and coordinated progress on Ghubrah III Desalination Plant

The Ghubrah III Desalination Plant continues to make solid progress, demonstrating the effectiveness of robust planning and, above all, the close collaboration between the Engineering teams – both Savener and GS Inima – and the Construction team. This synergy has been key to maintaining the pace of progress and ensuring the efficient execution of each phase of the project.

During the last few weeks, critical activities in civil works and assembly have been completed, enabling new fronts that accelerate the deployment of electromechanical disciplines. Productivity and quality are monitored on a daily basis, with milestone validation and documentation updated by work packages.

On the civil side, a significant level of progress has been achieved with the stabilisation of platforms and the execution of foundations for equipment and secondary racks. Pedestals have been concreted, buried piping has been laid and key areas for assembly have been prepared, with optimised access for cranes and internal transport. At the same time, the enclosure is progressing at a good pace, improving the overall site logistics.

In the mechanical area, priority sections of process and service piping have been prefabricated and dimensionally verified in the workshop. The main pumps and rotating equipment have successfully passed the acceptance inspections and alignment verification. Corrosion treatments are applied according to specification, coordinating painting and curing windows according to the progress of the assembly, thus avoiding interference and rework.

The next weeks will be focused on mechanical integration by systems, line flushing, control valve verification and progressive pre-commissioning by areas. Ready packages have been organised for hydraulic and electrical testing, ensuring minimal interference between contractors. In terms of quality, the ITPs of critical activities are maintained, with full traceability of materials and control of welds. Logistics and purchasing carry out exhaustive monitoring of strategic supplies, prioritising critical deliveries and applying mitigation plans in the event of possible deviations.

The publication is complemented by a gallery of recent images that accurately reflect the current status of the project: metal structure of the RO system, completed pedestals and lifting of reverse osmosis racks. These photographs provide transparency and reinforce the alignment of progress with the baseline schedule. In addition, as-built documentation is updated in parallel to facilitate an orderly transition to the pre-commissioning and commissioning phases.

The progress achieved on Ghubrah III is testimony not only to rigorous planning, but also to the joint and perfectly coordinated effort between the Engineering and Construction teams of the two companies, a collaboration that continues to be the basis of the project’s success.
