The engineering firm Savener has been awarded the contract to carry out the design and project management for the comprehensive renovation of the roof of building A21 at the AIRBUS factory in Illescas (Toledo). This project, which is of strategic importance for the AIRBUS maintenance department, has the main objective of resolving leakage problems, renovating the building envelope and optimising the finishes with the adjacent infrastructure — all without interrupting internal production activities.
The project will involve a renovation of the roof: it includes the incorporation of sustainable, high-performance materials, improvements in thermal insulation, an efficient and flexible design that integrates with the existing elements of the roof, and valuable engineering work in process control, energy efficiency and integration.
Savener, as the lead engineering firm, will be responsible for technical management, planning, construction supervision, cost control and process monitoring, in line with the execution criteria defined by AIRBUS.
The specific nature of the work at the Illescas factory requires rigorous planning. The work will be carried out while ensuring the plant’s operational continuity: production will remain active throughout the project, without the need for any stoppages. This condition reinforces AIRBUS’s confidence in Savener, which has already demonstrated its expertise in roof refurbishment and facility modernisation in critical aeronautical industrial environments.
In this renovation of the roof of the A21 building in Illescas, Savener will seek to apply its advanced methodology: exhaustive control of manufacturers, monitoring and digitisation on site, detailed planning and cost optimisation. At the same time, enhanced safety criteria for workers and accessibility will be implemented, and added architectural value will be sought in the industrial building by contributing expertise in improving the infrastructure surrounding the project, such as accesses, maintenance corridors, improvements in drainage, etc.
