Leaving the other building parameters untouched (the configuration of doors and windows, the thermal bridges, etc....) we can act on the type of opening used. The software will assist us in choosing the most appropriate ones in order to achieve a high or a medium efficiency level. It will also show us when the level is not acceptable, warning us of the non-compliance with CTE-HE1 provisions, unless other characteristics of the building are substantially improved.
This software is very useful when we are in the preliminary design stage, helping us decide whether a specific opening is recommended in a particular exposure and in a particular climate, or whether we will need a “strong” composition of the opening in order to keep the size of the original sketches. Therefore we can establish beforehand if the investment will need to be increased to keep the original design or whether we need to redesign to achieve the highest efficiency at the lowest cost, if the aesthetic concept established allows us a certain flexibility. |
The software is absolutely graphic and user-friendly with an intuitive data input and a thorough result output.
It was initially designed for a window manufacturer and presents a great variety of possibilities, combining 9 variables which must be fixed by the user: climate zone, exposure, percentage of opening, building use, frame factor, frame transmittance (Um), glass transmittance (Uv), absorption capacity and permeability. All the presented possibilities are based on the designs of the manufacturer for whom the software was originally designed.
However, there is a completely open version being created at the moment, in which one can insert any possible combination.
